Relationship between Maxillary Sinus Hypoplasia and Maxillary Occlusal Cant: A Cone Beam CT Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction. Maxillary sinus hypoplasia (MSH) has been reported to cause a cant in the orbital plane. No similar reports exist about possible impact on maxilla. The aim of this study was assess if MSH is associated with maxillary occlusal plane (MOP) and dental or mandibular factors influenced existence MOP cant. Methods. 80 cone beam CT images subjects were analyzed for type MSH, degree cant, open cross bite, asymmetry, degenerative joint disease temporomandibular joints. compared control group matched by age gender. Results. (range 0–5.1°) not statistically significantly different unilateral vs. bilateral between types MSH. frequency crossbite, different. Between case control, there no significant difference ( 1.3 ± 1.1 ° id="M2"> 0.9 , respectively) factors. There low positive linear correlation symmetry (Spearman’s id="M3"> rho = 0.23 ) controls id="M4"> 0.18 7). Conclusions. data suggests view alveolar bone as adaptable skeletal unit ensure bridge functionality nasomaxillary complex TMJ system–two systems very function, therefore largely independent “matrix units.”

Background and Objectives The topography of the sinus floor and its relationship with maxillary teeth roots varies with age, pneumatization size and grade, positioning of the teeth, and Genetics. This study used cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to evaluate the distance between posterior teeth and the maxillary sinus floor in patients in Rafsanjan City, Iran. Materials and Methods This de...
متن کاملThe Association Between Maxillary Sinus Mucosal Thickening and Periapical Radiolucency Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Scanning: A Retrospective Study
Introdouction: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanning is a technological innovation developed in recent years with potential use in oral surgery and many other dental procedures. The aim of this study is to determine the maxillary sinus mucosal thickening in the maxillary premolar-molar area using the CBCT technique. Materials and methods: In this retrospective study, a total of 105 c...
متن کاملBilateral Maxillary Sinus Hypoplasia
Maxillary sinus hypoplasia (MSH) is an uncommon abnormality of paranasal sinuses noted in clinical practice. Computed tomography (CT) scan helps in diagnosing the anomaly along with any anatomical variation that may be associated with it. MSH is usually associated with other anomalies like uncinate process hypoplasia. Three types of MSH have been described. Type 1 MSH shows mild maxillary sinus...
متن کاملRelationship between maxillary canine intra-alveolar position and maxillary incisor angulation: a cone beam computed tomography study.
The aims of the present study were to evaluate the angulation and inclination of permanent maxillary incisors and to correlate the results to the intra-alveolar permanent maxillary canine position during mixed dentition, using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The subjects were 30 children aged 7 to 10 years in the inter-transitory period of mixed dentition (permanent incisors and first mol...
